Purpose of the role
The Logistics Coordinator is called upon to ensure the smooth operation of logistics in the country in support of ongoing projects.
Key duties
- To support the country manager in the implementation of the country security plan, with particular regard to transportation, housing and offices
- To ensure the adequacy and routine maintenance of offices and staff housing
- To manage and document the procurement of drugs, consumables and equipment, in compliance with NGO and donor procedures and in collaboration with logisticians at the various sites
- To supervise and ensure the proper operation and maintenance of vehicles
- To ensure the traceability of purchases
- To organize and coordinate staff transfers and transportation of materials
- To manage and monitor the proper functioning of the means of communication
- To prepare a monthly report of logistics activities
- To coordinate, supervise and train logisticians or logistics assistants at the various sites
- To ensure adequate documentation of activities carried out for reporting purposes
Requirements
- Previous professional experience in logistics in fragile countries and/or resource-limited settings
- Excellent knowledge of the French language
- Aptitude for problem solving and organizational skills
- Dynamism, adaptability and flexibility
- Degree in humanitarian logistics will be considered favorably
TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience and country risk allowance)
Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months
Flight ticket: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months
Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, professional registration, work and residence permits
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
R&R: 1 week of rest every 11 weeks of work, with allowance to cover costs
