Job position: Admin/Finance Officer

Location: Sierra Leone, Pujehun with missions to Kenema and Kailahun

Application deadline: July 26th, 2024

Start date: October 2024*

Duration: 12 months

Purpose of the role

Working closely with the project manager, the Admin/Finance Officer will oversee the administrative management of the project implemented, ensuring compliance with administrative and procurement procedures, preparing financial reporting, and supervising the management and maintenance of accounts by local accountants. 
The project aims at enhancing the access to clean cooking and improving the health conditions of vulnerable families, implementing health promotion activities and strengthening the local health system.

Key duties

  • ensuring proper documentation of expenditures and financial transactions for reporting purposes
  • overseeing accounting
  • monitoring project expenditure and supporting the project manager in planning and preparing periodic financial reports
  • managing cash and bank accounts dedicated to the project
  • supporting the project manager in preparing quarterly funding requests
  • ensuring compliance with procurement procedures
  • guaranteeing that projects activities are properly documented
  • supporting the project manager in the management of national staff and their contracts

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, University Degree in Economics or equivalent title
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Mastery in using accounting applications
  • Previous experience in admin/finance management of international cooperation projects in fragile countries and/or low-resources settings
  • Adaptability to live and work in rural contexts

TERMS OF CONTRACT

Type of contract: collaboration contract

Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience and rural area hardship allowance)

Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months

Flight tickets: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months

Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs

Visa and permits: the NGO bears the costs and paperwork for visa, professional registration, work and residence permits

Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace

Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker

Family policy: where the socio-political context and logistics allow it, international staff may be accompanied by their partner or family. In this case, the NGO provides a salary supplement and guarantees flights, health insurance, visas and permits for dependents and accompanying family members.
