Working context
WeWorld has its HQ in Italy in Milan. While being integral part of the International Programs Department, the Institutional Partnership Advisor will be based in Brussels, home based, with the possibility to partially work from ChildFund Alliance EU Office. Travels to Italy and projects’ countries may be considered.
Job description
The Institutional Partnership Advisor is primarily responsible for managing WeWorld interactions with specific institutional donors both at European and international levels. He/She takes the lead in strategically engaging with key donors, actively fostering and enhancing these relationships. This position leverages donor insights to enhance program quality and secure funding for WeWorld initiatives worldwide. Moreover, the Advisor collaborates with colleagues in Italy, as well as at Country and Regional offices level, to explore potential engagement with new donors and drive new business development. Additionally, he/she maintains a close relationship with ChildFund Alliance colleagues, particularly those in the EU Office, fostering synergy and collaboration.
Main tasks and Responsibilities
- Support the Head of International Programs Department (IPD) in defining, monitoring and developing WeWorld institutional donor engagement strategy.
- Contribute to nurturing relationships with strategic institutional donors, particularly Brussels based donors (such as DG ECHO, DG NEAR and FPI).
- Help develop relationships with new institutional donors.
- Develop and maintain the WeWorld mapping of institutional donors in collaboration with Regional and Country Directors and the Head of IPD.
- Keep Regional and Country Directors updated on institutional donor engagement opportunities.
- Facilitate synergies and scale up successful donor engagement activities carried out locally.
- Represent WeWorld in high-level panels, donor communities, networks, institutions and alliances at Brussels level (such as VOICE and CONCORD).
- Support the Head of IPD in developing relationships with ChildFund Alliance Members and other networks relevant for donor engagement.
- Guide the planning of the development of contents, studies and technical/strategic documents in line with the positioning strategy.
- Supporting the international dissemination and valorisation of WeWorld studies and technical/strategic documents.
- Other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional experience
- Strong experience in the development and humanitarian sectors.
- More than 7 years of experience in designing, implementing and monitoring humanitarian and/or development projects.
- Working experience with civil society organizations.
- Proven skills in business development and institutional donor engagement across.
- Knowledge of institutional donor functioning (ECHO, NEAR, INPA and others).
- Demonstrated history of achieving fundraising objectives and cultivating strategic partnerships.
- Networking experience.
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Flexibility and adaptation skills in changing situations.
- Commitment to WeWorld’s values and principles.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of other donors (eg UNICEF, USAid, BHA, MFAs).
- Previous experience in a similar position in other NGOs.
- Knowledge of French.
- Knowledge of Italian and other languages.
