Purpose of the role
The Director of Operations will be part of a project aimed at promoting access to clean cooking and improving the health status of vulnerable families by strengthening the local health system.
Key duties
- To ensure procurement, storage and transportation of efficient stoves for domestic use and supervise their distribution
- To recruit, select and train distribution teams
- To logistically support the organization of the distribution and the contextual health and nutritional education activities
Requirements
- Proven professional experience in logistics (procurement, transport, distribution, supply chain) in fragile countries and/or low resource settings
- Good knowledge of the Portuguese language
- Problem solving aptitude and organizational skills
- Dynamism, adaptability and flexibility
TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience)
Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months
Flight ticket: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months
Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
Family policy: where the socio-political context and logistics allow it, international staff may be accompanied by their partner or family. In this case, the NGO provides a salary supplement and guarantees flights, health insurance, visas and permits for dependents and accompanying family members.
