ABOUT
Slow Food is a global grassroots organization that envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet. Slow Food involves over a million activists, chefs, experts, youth, farmers, fishers, educators and academics in over 160 countries.
Slow Food’s education team develops education and training activities, including methodologies and tools, to increase consumer awareness of the food system, enhancing the skills of Slow Food education activists and inspiring and mobilizing them in carrying out grassroots initiatives.
JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Education Officer will contribute to the implementation of the education team’s activities primarily in relation to the work with school and training centers, developing educational tools and methodologies, and will provide support to the Slow Food network in the development of educational initiatives addressing different target groups.
Key responsibilities
· Contribute to the implementation of the strategic priorities and work program of Slow Food
· Contribute to define and implement successful education strategies to increase awareness about food, leveraging the Slow Food grassroots network
· Design and develop educational tools adapted to different target groups
· Design and implement training activities to develop Slow Food activists’ skills in education
· Support other teams in the design and development of training activities for the network, by providing tools and methodologies
· Support the organisation of meetings and events, liaising with various stakeholders
· Maintain and organize the internal communication channels (contacts and mailing lists, provide content for the education newsletter) – Contribute to the efficient organization of the office activities, including administrative tasks
· Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the education work
· Contribute to fundraising efforts (e.g. grant applications)
Profile
– Master’s degree. Relevant academic degree (e.g. education sciences) is a plus
– Excellent English language written skills
– Language skills in addition to English (esp. Italian and Spanish) are a plus
– Experience in the design and implementation of awareness-raising activities, food and environmental education or training activities
– Ability to translate complex content into simple messages tailored to different targets
– Good networking and interpersonal skills for an international environment
– Experience with grassroots work or grassroots organizations, in communicating with volunteers and engaging them is a plus
– Experience in group facilitation is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS
Terms of employment:
– Fixed-term contract (CDD) of 1 year with possibility of renewal
– Flexible tele-work will be possible, although regular presence is required.
– Applicants must – due to legal reasons – hold EU citizenship or valid EU residence permit and a valid Italian or EU work permit. Applications not meeting these conditions can unfortunately not be considered.
Remuneration package
The gross salary is in line with that of an Italian NGO, on the basis of the full-time job (typically 40 hours per week).
