Background
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a leading international independent medical humanitarian organisation, dedicated to providing expert medical relief to vulnerable populations at times of conflict or disaster. In over 71 countries worldwide, MSF provides both life-saving emergency relief and longer-term assistance to make basic healthcare services available to the most vulnerable or excluded communities. MSF Nederland in Italy coordinates the Search and Rescue operations in the central Mediterranean which provide lifesaving activities and basic assistance operating with the Geo Barents ship.
Scope and objectives of the position
The Digital Communications Manager reports to the Field Communications Coordinator, and s/he plays a key role to define, implement and update a dedicated digital strategy. In parallel, the Digital Communications Manager coordinates the production of digital contents, proposing innovative formats and communications initiatives.
Main responsibilities
• Social Media Management: provides digital landscape assessment related to SAR mission context; maintains regular publication of contents of the MSF Sea Twitter account; produces, edits and shares digital contents in different formats;
• Community building and management: promotes increase of social media audience;
• Monitoring: monitors performances of MSF SAR on social media. Receives, selects, edits, all data entry including captions of video and photo also for immediate dissemination ensures legal framework compliance and quality standards;
• Production and post-production of b-roll, and short video/graphics, animations and/or basic sound mix;
• Supports the coordination of digital/AV projects allocating videographers and photographers, producing schedule and terms of references;
• Ensures alignment of AV and social media content to MSF’s advocacy and communication strategies.
Profile and qualifications
·Essential: previous working experience of at least 4 years in communications, journalism or public;
· At least 2 years of professional experience in digital-AV production (filming, photography and post-production) ;
· Working experience in managing social media and producing digital and AV contents;
· Experience with MSF or other international NGOs in developing countries or in an international environment;
· University or College Degree in communications, journalism or political sciences. Candidates without a University of College education may be considered if they possess significant additional experience;
· Essential computer literacy (word, excel, social media, website management, analytics tools/Google Analytics and software: lightroom, photoshop, canva, premiere pro or final cut pro etc.);
· Fluent English speaker C1 level;
· Italian speaker B2 – C1 level;

· Autonomy.
Conditions
Contract: Fixed term contract (6 months renewable for other 6 months), full-time. Level 2 of Italian CCNL of Commerce. Candidates should hold a work permit to work in Italy.
Gross Annual Salary: Between 31,192.49 Euros and 33,688 Euros, depending on the MSF experience of the selected candidate.
Duty Station: Based in the MSF Nederland Rome office.
