Child Safeguarding and Protection (CSP) Manager- All Programs

Location: Remote

Status: Full Time

Starting date: immediate

Contract: minimum 6 months, preferred one year

Compensation: €1300-1500

REPORT TO: Education Director/Board of Directors

Job description

The CSP Manager- All Programs is a full time position that oversees Child Safeguarding and Protection (CSP) officers on all Still I Rise’s programs locations (currently, Greece, Turkey, North West Syria and Kenya).

In this position, you will develop and implement a child safeguarding system, protection policies and PSS strategies across all programs mentoring and supporting our country based CSP officers in order to adapt individual behavioural and learning plans for different children to local contexts. Moreover,you will work closely with our HQ’s office departments (advocacy, fundraising, HR).

The position is from remote with travel to our programs if needed. We may consider applications from candidates who are resident in (and willing to work from) one of the countries where our international offices are situated, if they are eligible to work there.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and implementing a child safeguarding system for all programs (strategies, policies, procedures etc.)
  • Tailor, improve and monitor implementation of all relevant training and support regarding child protection and safeguarding ensuring high quality standards are always met.
  • Supervise, manage and mentor CSP officers in all programs, ensuring they are all oriented to program outcomes and their roles and responsibilities are clear.
  • Manage weekly meetings with each CSP officer to provide a space for debrief, feedback and support.
  • Ensure all CSP officers on location are trained on their core responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure CSP officers on location liaise appropriately and timely with the relevant authorities/other actors when addressing CSP concerns.
  • Undertake regular scheduled remote monitoring to assess progress and identify issues and ensure all monitoring activities are recorded correctly.
  • Support CSP officers across all locations in developing and adapting individual behavioural support strategies for students.
  • Receiving incident reports and providing support to CSP officers in handling reported cases and maintaining incident and training trackers based on inputs from CSP officers.
  • Managing, conducting, or providing support to investigation of reported cases, as appropriate
  • Develop and implement strategies (together with the CSP officer on the ground) on supporting children who’ve experienced and continue to experience trauma, using evidence-based and up-to-date trauma informed interventions.
  • Work with the HR department to recruit possible vacant positions of CSP officers on all programs.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to be shared with the Education Director/Board of Directors and general updates including for accountability to donors.
  • Support Still I Rise in advocacy work.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and growth of Still I Rise both locally and internationally.
  • Implement project management processes to assign responsibilities, set milestones, and keep track of performance and deliverables.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings within SIR.

PREREQUISITES

  • Degree in a specialist technical or professional field relevant to role (e.g. Child Protection, Child Rights, Psychology)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in child safeguarding and protection.
  • Skills in designing and facilitating child safeguarding learning in different cultural and organisational contexts
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in improving policies and practices
  • Native-like fluency in English.
  • Experience working on the ground with displaced/refugee children.
  • Familiarity with PFA capacity building for emergency preparedness and response.
  • Experience working with vulnerable teenagers .
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong admin and reporting skills.
  • Good IT skills including use of MS Office, Google Drive, Trello and Slack.
  • Experience working in a non-profit is a plus.
  • Completion of CRB/background check.
  • Ability to travel, with reasonable notice given, to the supported locations

  • Ability and interest in working in a multicultural environment.
  • EU citizen/resident or eligible to work in EU.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Fluency in any of the following languages: Italian, Arabic, Swahili, Turkish, Greek, Kurmanji, Sorani.
  • Experience in the education sector or working within a school setting.
  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts.
