Job Overview/Summary:
CIR Northern Africa seeks a young, talented and motivated professional to join the team in Tunis.
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Junior Program Assistant will support the setup of CIR’s operations in Libya and Tunisia.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Program Manager responsible for activities in Libya and Tunisia and her/his tasks will vary between, but not limited to :
Assisting the Program Manager in daily activities: translation of documents, writing narrative reports, providing logistic support in project implementation and participating in the organizational phases of events, study visits and workshops, assisting in the inventory process and with archiving, inserting data and maintaining records as instructed by senior staff members,
Participating in external meeting if needed.
Cooperating with the Communication Office in ensuring the transmission of programme related information between the team.
Researching and monitoring funding opportunities, cooperating in project proposal drafting.
Supervising the monitoring activities conducted by CIR staff on the field.
Essential Qualifications:
University Degree in political sciences, international development, sociology, migration studies, international asylum law (other related field can also be considered);
Good knowledge of migration, asylum and refugee issues;
Proficiency in English and French (both written and verbal);
Excellent communication skills;
Ability to communicate and work in a multicultural environment and with people from different backgrounds;
High stress management capacity, especially in pressing and emergency contexts;
Predisposition to teamwork and to collaborate profusely with other operators;
Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
Availability to work with flexible working hours;
Strong motivation in working with migration-related issues and for a not-for-profit organization.
Desirable Qualifications:
MAs or equivalent level in social sciences, e.g. in political sciences, international development, sociology, migration studies, international asylum law (other related fields can also be considered);
Previous volunteering experience is an asset;
Proficiency in an additional language, preferred Italian and Arabic;
Good knowledge of mixed migrations, refugees and asylum seekers situation in the Northern African region;
Experience with international asylum procedures.
