Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first Italian healthcare-focused NGO officially recognized by Italian authorities.
Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Central African Republic implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.
Job position: Project Manager
Location: Sierra Leone, Pujehun with missions in Kenema and Kailahun
Start date: October 2024 *

Purpose of the role
The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing a project aimed at enhancing the access to clean cooking and improving the health conditions of vulnerable families, implementing health promotion activities and strengthening the local health system.
Key duties
- recruit and select project staff
- organize the distribution of efficient stoves for household use
- maintain relationships with local health authorities at all levels and with the civic society organisations involved in the project
- coordinate, supervise and monitor the proper implementation of project activities
- ensure the availability of project data and the timely elaboration of reports required by the donor
- ensure effective management of the project team and resources, including financial and material assets
Requirements
- University Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics or related fields
- Previous experience in project management in fragile countries and/or low resource settings; experience in managing projects of significant size and/or with a distribution component will be considered an asset
- Good knowledge of English
- Dynamism and flexibility
- Adaptability to live and work in rural contexts
TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience and rural area hardship allowance)
Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months
Flight ticket: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months
Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
Family policy: where the socio-political context and logistics allow it, international staff may be accompanied by their partner or family. In this case, the NGO provides a salary supplement and guarantees flights, health insurance, visas and permits for dependents and accompanying family members.
