ASIA NGO Description

A.S.I.A. (Associazione per la Solidarietà Internazionale in Asia), is an International NGO based in Italy. We work since 1988 in Tibetan areas in PRC with different kind of projects (mainly on Education, Cultural Heritage Protection, Emergency, Environment, Traditional Health System, Long Distance Sponsorship, WASH, Rural Development). ASIA works also in India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Inner Mongolia and Nepal. For further information: http://asia-ngo.org/en/

Support to the work of the International Desks and director
Availability and ability to interact and collaborate with other sectors of the organization (Administration & Finance, Global Citizenship Education, Long Distance Sponsorship, Communication & Fundraising)

3.2 Knowledge and experience required:

Academic background:
Degree (five-year or 3 + 2) and Master in relevant sectors for ASIA, in particular Himalaya environment and food security
Project cycle management and/or project development

Management:
Management skills and proved knowledge of the procedures of the main national and international donors (UE, UN agencies, AICS, etc.)

Technical specific knowledge:
Good organizational skills
Management skills
Knowledge in project cycle management
Ability to write successful project proposal (different donors).
Excellent reporting skills
Knowledge of the reporting procedures of the main institutional donors (AICS donor procedures is mandatory)

Personal Abilities:
Strong ability in coordination and teamwork
Strong willing to learn and to improve professional skills
Excellent communication skill
Dynamic and willing to take initiative to complete tasks assigned
Ability to work for goals in compliance with deadlines

Previous experience (years):
At least 1 year in a similar position or at least 2 years ’experience in the field in development projects (preferably in Asia)
Experiences on scientific research and analysis on the Himalayan environment

Organization knowledge:
Ability in planning and monitoring

Languages:
Italian, English fluent, basic Tibetan or Nepali

IT systems:
Computer skills including Windows and Microsoft
Office/Excel
Mobility (national/ international)
Flexible with respect to working hours and place of work.
Resident
Resident in Rome or willing to move to Rome

POSITION SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS

In strict cooperation with the HQ and local staff:

1. Support for writing new projects proposals (Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Mongolia)

After the mandate to start up an identification study, he/she provides remote support to the responsible of identification;
He/she examines the need assessment and finalize the project proposal (concept notes or full proposals) in collaboration with the staff in loco and submits it to the International Desk (ID) for approval.

2. Support for the revision of monitoring reports of ongoing projects

He/she revises the final version of the reports requested by the donor according to their procedures (technical reports, requests for modification, no cost extensions etc) before sending to the International Desk.
He/she ensures compliance with deadlines and urges local staff to meet them

3. Support in reviewing project budgets

He/she supports in the preparation of budget of any future initiatives
He/she supports in reviewing project budgets and cash flows

4. Support for project management in particular in Nepal, Bhutan

He/she establishes, where required, daily contacts with the local project staff for its direct management
He/she revises the internal monthly progress reports

5. If required and if the international context allows it, participate in assessment missions aimed at identifying and writing new projects and / or opening new countries

6. Cooperate and interact with all the ASIA HQ department:

Fundraising & Communication: support the International Desk in sharing information about the projects and work on the identification of new donors for international projects
Administration & Finance: support the International Desk and Admin & Fin Department in budget forecasting and revision, as well as new budgets preparation
Long Distance Sponsorship: where required, support the International Desk and LDS department in the coordination of the field staff in charge of LDS
